Got any questions? You might find the answers here:
Q: Where can I buy tickets?
TICKETS FOR THIS YEAR'S EVENT ARE NOW SOLD OUT!
A: You can buy tickets at Notton Village Post Office until Friday 4th November. It's also possible to buy them online- you'll find the link on our homepage in the run up to the event. When you buy your tickets online please make sure you check that you have received the confirmation email which contains a print out of your ticket and your "QR" Code (small pattern of squares). If you do not receive your email then please check your junk or spam box/folder as very often they end up in there. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU BRING A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TICKET WITH YOU TO THE EVENT either printed out or on your phone/tablet. If you do not have this with you on the night then you may be refused admission. If you have any queries regarding online tickets then please use the contact forms on either the ticketing page or this website. Please note, you must buy a ticket in advance of the event- you cannot purchase tickets on the night. There is no entry on the gate on the night. Ticket numbers this year are limited, so please purchase early to avoid disappointment.
Q: When can I buy tickets?
A: Tickets are on sale now at Notton Village Post Office and are available during normal opening hours which are Mon-Sat 0700-1900 & Sun 0800-1200. You can buy tickets online 24/7 up to 11pm on Friday 4th November. You cannot buy tickets on the night- there will be no entry on the gate on the night. Ticket numbers this year are limited, so please purchase early to avoid disappointment.
Q: Can I buy tickets on the night?
A: NO. There are no tickets available on the gate on the night. You must buy your tickets in advance.
Q: How much are the tickets?
A: Ticket prices are subject to change each year and will be confirmed in the run up to the event. This year tickets are a standard price of £10.00 general admission for adults, £5.00 children10 and under. Children aged 2 and under are free. If you are booking online there is also an additional charge to cover admin and ticket agency fees.
Q: Can I buy family tickets?
A: At the moment we do not offer family tickets for the event, but ask everyone to purchase tickets separately.
Q: What time does it start?
A: Traditionally the gates open at 5.30pm every year, with the bonfire lit at 7pm and the firework display at 8pm. However, we would strongly urge you to check each year for the very latest start times on our Twitter & Facebook pages.
Q: What time does it finish?
A: The firework display ends around about 8.30pm. The fairground and refreshment stalls do remain open for the few 'hardy souls' who remain to watch the dying embers of the bonfire, but normally the event ends around 9.30pm.
Q: Where does the event take place?
A: The Bonfire & Firework Spectacular takes place in the centre of Notton Village itself on the cricket field behind the Village Hall. Please take a look at our contact page for a map & directions.
Q: How do I get there?
A: You can get to Notton Village by car or even on foot if you live locally. (See the contact page for a map). PLEASE PLAN YOUR JOURNEY! We always advise anyone travelling by car to ARRIVE EARLY and allow plenty of time to park (see below) and get into the event. Anyone with expectations of travelling to arrive at 7pm and walking straight into the event will be disappointed!
Q: Is there anywhere to park?
A: Notton is a small village and we're sure you can appreciate that it has a limited capacity for being able to cope with the thousands of guests we have attending the event each year who choose to travel by car. A limited amount of parking is available in the centre of Notton itself. Alternatively there is a large field set aside for parking at the Royston end of the village (sign-posted on the night), plus on street parking. However, we would ask that anyone parking their cars in the village be considerate to other road users and local residents when doing so. We would ask for everyone's cooperation in ensuring that residents are able still able to access their properties, park outside and emergency services and bus routes are maintained throughout the village.
Q: Can I bring my own food & drink?
A: We offer a wide range of food and drink at an extremely discounted rate which is on sale both in the village hall and numerous stalls on the night. Therefore we would ask anyone attending the event to refrain from bringing any of their own food & drink. However, if you are considering enjoying some of our pie & peas or hot dogs on the night we would strongly urge you to purchase them as soon as possible because they sell out fast and the village hall where they are served gets incredibly busy as the evening progresses.
Q: It's really hard to get food and drink on the night. Why can't there be more food and drink stalls outside?
A: We have looked at many options over the years to find ways in which we can increase the capacity for providing more catering. However, due to the limited size of our facilities we are unable to increase them within the village hall. Much of the field where the main event takes place is occupied by our main attractions- The Bonfire & Firework Display, plus we want as many people as possible to be able to fit in the field and enjoy the event- therefore we are unfortunately unable to fit any additional catering wagons or facilities into the field.
Q: Why is it cash only buying food and drink?
A: Unfortunately we do not yet have the capacity to receive payment by card at our event. We strongly recommend that anyone who purchases tickets for our event ensure that they bring cash should they wish purchase any food and drink or enjoy the rides on the night. Notton Village Post Office does have the facility to withdraw cash, but this closes early on the day of the event and so it is better to ensure you have sufficient cash before you travel.
Q: Why does the village hall catering stop when the firework display is on?
A: Our whole event is staffed entirely by volunteers who give up a considerable amount of time in the run up to the event and on the day itself to ensure Notton Bonfire & Firework Display is a huge success and raises a huge amount of money for worthy causes in the process. Therefore, we hope you will understand and respect that the hard working team of caterers in the village hall be given the only thanks we can provide them with in being allowed to watch the main event.
Q: What's the firework display like? Is it suitable for young children?
A: Notton prides itself on its firework display being one of the brightest and best displays in the area & unfortunately that can't happen without any noise! The display itself lasts for just over 20 minutes & does contain a lot of noise and bangs, some of them very loud, so this is not a display for those who are sensitive to a bit of noise!
Q: I'm a stallholder & I have souvenirs/food/trinkets to sell that would make a great addition to your event. Do you allow independent stallholders to sell at your event?
A: Unfortunately due to health & safety concerns all of our stallholders and ride operators have to be thoroughly checked and verified prior to the event, so unfortunately we do not permit independent store holders on the night. As we have also mentioned above, we do not have additional capacity within the field where the main event takes place to be able to accommodate any additional stalls or vehicles.
Q: What about safety? Is the event safe?
A: Naturally in an event this large with both a bonfire and firework display there are considerable risks. However, the organising committee and planners for the event take great pride in ensuring each year it passes without incident. Along with St Johns Ambulance & Local Police who are in attendance, there are also an army of volunteers who act as fire line marshals, car park attendants and firework display marshals on the night. The event is also cleared & inspected by the local fire authority. While we can never 100% guarantee everyone's safety, every effort has been made to make sure every year passes off with the minimum number of incidents.
If you have any more questions or need further information about the event, please feel free to send us a message using our contact page.
