Originally the brainchild of one of the residents in the village, Notton has been running an organised bonfire and firework display for over 20 years. With fundraising at its heart, the event has raised thousands of pounds over the years for both the local community and many local charities.
Each year local residents and volunteers come together to organise, prepare and run the "Notton Bonfire & Firework Event". From flyer distribution & signage to car parking and catering the build up to every first Saturday in November is a hive of activity in the village.
The bonfire itself is built from a combination of donations from local individuals and organisations and is always the 'main course' of our feast, complete with a locally made Guy Fawkes every year.
The first firework displays were also run by local volunteers, but with the immediate success of the event, it soon became clear that a display befitting the size of the event should be left to the professionals. For the last few years professional firework display companies have wowed the audience with a truly spectacular climax to the event, with phenomenal fireworks displays, each year bigger and better!
Of course the bonfire & firework display are the main attractions, but our event doesn't stop there. We have a range of food & drink available for all the family- from traditional pie & peas and hot dogs to toffee apples and hot drinks, our army of kitchen volunteers ensure no one goes hungry! We've also quite literally got all the fun of the fair... with bouncy castles, ghost train, hook a duck stalls and many fairground rides for all ages.
All in all this event has grown into a firm annual fixture in many people's social schedule, with thousands coming from throughout the region and indeed the country to join in what is a fantastic night out and spectacle for all the family.
